SUMMARY:Schonesland 2024 Omaha Cars and Coffee Driving Tour
DESCRIPTION:Registration ends in 4 months at July 12\, 2024 11:59 PM CDT – click here to register on MSR! \n\nThis is a shared event with the Schonesland and Great Plains PCA regions. \nThe Schonesland Club will meet 10:30 am Friday\, June 12th at the Handlebar restaurant in Dallas Center.  After the Driver’s Meeting (at 10:30)\, we will have lunch at 11:00 in the Handlebar then will be starting the drive around noon. \nWe will drive to Omaha on the byways as typical and should arrive at the Durham Museum around 2:30 (please bring $15 per person for the Durham Museum tour to avoid a line of people paying once we get there). At the museum\, will have a docent to guide us\, and he will take us through the highlights for two hours\, as there is a LOT to see. While it was a train station “back in the day”\, the real focus of the museum is on the settling and growth of Omaha from the 1800’s on. Both Roy and Bill spent two hours touring the museum and could have easily spent another hour! We realize museums are not everyone’s cup of tea. So\, if a museum tour is just not your thing\, you can drive with us to Omaha and then head to the hotel\, check in\, and then go across the street and test drive Porsches all afternoon! Or break off from the group and do an abbreviated tour on your own\, and then head to the hotel. If two hours is not enough at the museum\, stay as long as you like. Lastly\, as we will be right in the Old Market area\, you could spend some time exploring that area. \nAfter the Museum tour\, we will continue onto the Residence Inn Omaha West for check in (18202 Cuming Street). Room rates are $129-$139 for the night and you can call the hotel at 402-289-9500 or use the link below to make your reservation: \nhttps://www.marriott.com/en-us/hotels/omarw-residence-inn-omaha-west/overview/ \nWe will meet the Great Plains Porsche Club event attendees at Farmer Brown’s Restaurant located at 2620 River Road Drive in Waterloo\, NE (6 miles from the Residence Inn) with 6:00 p.m. cocktails followed by 7:00 p.m. dinner. Dinner and drinks will be at each member’s cost. Entree selections will be Roast Beef\, Country Style BBQ Back Ribs\, 4 piece Fried Chicken Dinner or Salmon Filet. \nIn the morning\, we will need to have our cars parked in the Berkshire Hathaway parking lot (331 Village Point Plaza) by 7:30 a.m.\, which is just across the freeway (this is where the Supercar Saturday event takes place\, and we will have our own Porsche parking area). “Ollie the Trolley” will shuttle us back across the freeway (running from 7:30-9:30) to the Porsche of Omaha Dealership Service Bay for breakfast. Following breakfast we will head back to the car show via\n“Ollie the Trolley” for the main event to tour the huge collection of Exotics\, Classics\, American muscle\, Europeans and JDM’s – it’s a car enthusiast’s dream! There is no charge for breakfast or for admission to Supercar Saturday. \nAfter the show you are free to enjoy more time in Omaha or head back home to Des Moines on your own. \nPlease RSVP when registering with the appropriate number to indicate if you are attending the dinner at Farmer Brown’s and the breakfast at Porsche of Omaha so we can provide accurate counts for both. \nDirections will be available on the Ride with GPS app

SUMMARY:Schonesland 2024 Tour to Red Wing
DESCRIPTION:Registration ends on July 18\, 2024 11:59 PM CDT \nClick here to register on MotorsportsReg! \nRed Wing 2024 begins on Thursday\, July 25th at 8:00 AM at the Kum & Go on 1st Street in Ankeny.  We’ll enjoy a relaxing drive on an entirely new route to Red Wing which takes us to NE Iowa with a lunch stop in West Union at a Greek family-owned restaurant that has been in continuous operation for over 50 years.  The roads get interesting right after lunch as we enter SE Minnesota’s beautiful countryside.  \nOnce again\, we’re staying at the historic St James Hotel in downtown Red Wing for three nights where a 25-room block is set up under the “Schonesland Porsche Club”.  You’ll need to make your reservations directly by clicking on this link. https://gettaroom.b4checkin.com/stjames/rlp/SchoneslandRegionPorscheClubGroupBlock or call the hotel at 651-388-2846.  Thursday dinner will be a block away from the hotel at the Homeplate & Dugout Grill\, where we’ll have the entire bar area to ourselves to eat and sip a cold one or two. \nDay two\, Friday\, is relaxing day. There will be a short one-hour excursion to beautiful\, historic Stillwater\, MN\, located on the banks of the St. Croix River. http://discoverstillwater.com Once one of the great lumbering capitals in the world\, Stillwater was established years before Minneapolis and the process of statehood began here. The historic buildings here are truly a sight to behold\, nestled between the huge bluffs that overlook this quaintly updated village. We’ll have lunch together at the Lowell Inn and have time before and after lunch for plenty of browsing\, shopping and relaxing. After a short return to the Red Wing area later in the afternoon\, we’ll have pub grub for dinner at the raucous Big Dog Daddy’s Roadhouse in Bay City\, WI\, 7 miles from the hotel. You’re gonna love this place. \nDay three\, Saturday\, is driving day\, starting with a delicious brunch at the Stockholm Pie Shop & General Store. http://stockholmpie.com Quiche\, bagels\, cream cheese\, fruit\, coffee and… PIE & ice cream (why not?!). After brunch we’ll drive on a patchwork of this region’s best roads\, sewn together from the last two years’ routes and some new roads as well.  They’ll lead us to Larry’s Lookout http://larryslookout.com later in the afternoon where we’ll stop for a beverage\, while enjoying some incredible views from way up high in the bluffs\, overlooking scenic valleys.  Get a snack here if you wish\, but don’t get too full because dinner aw aits 60 miles away in Bay City at the Chef Shack. http://chefshackbaycity.com This little gem has been operated for ten years by two ladies that were 2024 James Beard Award semi-finalists.  This gorgeous\, funky little restaurant will be entirely ours for the evening to enjoy with grilled meats and veggies\, spuds and dessert.  It promises to be a fitting way to put a bow on a memorable Schonesland weekend.  \nSunday\, July 28th everyone can return home on the route of their choice. \nWhen you register you will be asked to prepay for Friday’s lunch in Stillwater and Saturday evening’s dinner at the Chef Shack. \nSee you in Red Wing!
