SUMMARY:Schonesland 2024 Omaha Cars and Coffee Driving Tour
DESCRIPTION:Registration ends in 4 months at July 12\, 2024 11:59 PM CDT – click here to register on MSR! \n\nThis is a shared event with the Schonesland and Great Plains PCA regions. \nThe Schonesland Club will meet 10:30 am Friday\, June 12th at the Handlebar restaurant in Dallas Center.  After the Driver’s Meeting (at 10:30)\, we will have lunch at 11:00 in the Handlebar then will be starting the drive around noon. \nWe will drive to Omaha on the byways as typical and should arrive at the Durham Museum around 2:30 (please bring $15 per person for the Durham Museum tour to avoid a line of people paying once we get there). At the museum\, will have a docent to guide us\, and he will take us through the highlights for two hours\, as there is a LOT to see. While it was a train station “back in the day”\, the real focus of the museum is on the settling and growth of Omaha from the 1800’s on. Both Roy and Bill spent two hours touring the museum and could have easily spent another hour! We realize museums are not everyone’s cup of tea. So\, if a museum tour is just not your thing\, you can drive with us to Omaha and then head to the hotel\, check in\, and then go across the street and test drive Porsches all afternoon! Or break off from the group and do an abbreviated tour on your own\, and then head to the hotel. If two hours is not enough at the museum\, stay as long as you like. Lastly\, as we will be right in the Old Market area\, you could spend some time exploring that area. \nAfter the Museum tour\, we will continue onto the Residence Inn Omaha West for check in (18202 Cuming Street). Room rates are $129-$139 for the night and you can call the hotel at 402-289-9500 or use the link below to make your reservation: \nhttps://www.marriott.com/en-us/hotels/omarw-residence-inn-omaha-west/overview/ \nWe will meet the Great Plains Porsche Club event attendees at Farmer Brown’s Restaurant located at 2620 River Road Drive in Waterloo\, NE (6 miles from the Residence Inn) with 6:00 p.m. cocktails followed by 7:00 p.m. dinner. Dinner and drinks will be at each member’s cost. Entree selections will be Roast Beef\, Country Style BBQ Back Ribs\, 4 piece Fried Chicken Dinner or Salmon Filet. \nIn the morning\, we will need to have our cars parked in the Berkshire Hathaway parking lot (331 Village Point Plaza) by 7:30 a.m.\, which is just across the freeway (this is where the Supercar Saturday event takes place\, and we will have our own Porsche parking area). “Ollie the Trolley” will shuttle us back across the freeway (running from 7:30-9:30) to the Porsche of Omaha Dealership Service Bay for breakfast. Following breakfast we will head back to the car show via\n“Ollie the Trolley” for the main event to tour the huge collection of Exotics\, Classics\, American muscle\, Europeans and JDM’s – it’s a car enthusiast’s dream! There is no charge for breakfast or for admission to Supercar Saturday. \nAfter the show you are free to enjoy more time in Omaha or head back home to Des Moines on your own. \nPlease RSVP when registering with the appropriate number to indicate if you are attending the dinner at Farmer Brown’s and the breakfast at Porsche of Omaha so we can provide accurate counts for both. \nDirections will be available on the Ride with GPS app

SUMMARY:Schonesland 2024 Tour to Red Wing
DESCRIPTION:Registration ends on July 18\, 2024 11:59 PM CDT \nClick here to register on MotorsportsReg! \nRed Wing 2024 begins on Thursday\, July 25th at 8:00 AM at the Kum & Go on 1st Street in Ankeny.  We’ll enjoy a relaxing drive on an entirely new route to Red Wing which takes us to NE Iowa with a lunch stop in West Union at a Greek family-owned restaurant that has been in continuous operation for over 50 years.  The roads get interesting right after lunch as we enter SE Minnesota’s beautiful countryside.  \nOnce again\, we’re staying at the historic St James Hotel in downtown Red Wing for three nights where a 25-room block is set up under the “Schonesland Porsche Club”.  You’ll need to make your reservations directly by clicking on this link. https://gettaroom.b4checkin.com/stjames/rlp/SchoneslandRegionPorscheClubGroupBlock or call the hotel at 651-388-2846.  Thursday dinner will be a block away from the hotel at the Homeplate & Dugout Grill\, where we’ll have the entire bar area to ourselves to eat and sip a cold one or two. \nDay two\, Friday\, is relaxing day. There will be a short one-hour excursion to beautiful\, historic Stillwater\, MN\, located on the banks of the St. Croix River. http://discoverstillwater.com Once one of the great lumbering capitals in the world\, Stillwater was established years before Minneapolis and the process of statehood began here. The historic buildings here are truly a sight to behold\, nestled between the huge bluffs that overlook this quaintly updated village. We’ll have lunch together at the Lowell Inn and have time before and after lunch for plenty of browsing\, shopping and relaxing. After a short return to the Red Wing area later in the afternoon\, we’ll have pub grub for dinner at the raucous Big Dog Daddy’s Roadhouse in Bay City\, WI\, 7 miles from the hotel. You’re gonna love this place. \nDay three\, Saturday\, is driving day\, starting with a delicious brunch at the Stockholm Pie Shop & General Store. http://stockholmpie.com Quiche\, bagels\, cream cheese\, fruit\, coffee and… PIE & ice cream (why not?!). After brunch we’ll drive on a patchwork of this region’s best roads\, sewn together from the last two years’ routes and some new roads as well.  They’ll lead us to Larry’s Lookout http://larryslookout.com later in the afternoon where we’ll stop for a beverage\, while enjoying some incredible views from way up high in the bluffs\, overlooking scenic valleys.  Get a snack here if you wish\, but don’t get too full because dinner aw aits 60 miles away in Bay City at the Chef Shack. http://chefshackbaycity.com This little gem has been operated for ten years by two ladies that were 2024 James Beard Award semi-finalists.  This gorgeous\, funky little restaurant will be entirely ours for the evening to enjoy with grilled meats and veggies\, spuds and dessert.  It promises to be a fitting way to put a bow on a memorable Schonesland weekend.  \nSunday\, July 28th everyone can return home on the route of their choice. \nWhen you register you will be asked to prepay for Friday’s lunch in Stillwater and Saturday evening’s dinner at the Chef Shack. \nSee you in Red Wing!

SUMMARY:Schonesland 2025 Loess Hills Run
DESCRIPTION:Please arrive at the Hotel Renovo lobby with a full tank of gas by 7:30 am. Additionally\, there is a maximum of twenty cars for this tour. \nSchoneslanders have been driving the Loess Hills Scenic Byway since 2009.  It’s long been one of our most popular trips. Why\, you ask?  Because the roads are just so damn good!  These scenic\, thrilling roads are only two hours from Central Iowa via Highway 44\, which itself is loaded with sweeping curves and majestic vistas.  This is one day of total bliss behind the wheel of your Porsche that will have you feeling exhilarated as you arrive in Sioux City\, just in time to watch the Kentucky Derby with your Schonesland friends. \nThe big change to this year’s plan is a new location for lodging and dinner. The Warrior Hotel in downtown Sioux City is a historic grand hotel that has been restored to its legendary Art Deco interior with luxurious finishes throughout.  Click on the link to see photos of this fabulous property. There is a block of 20 rooms at a fantastic rate of only $149 per night-you’ll see that’s a bargain when you see your room. Hotel reservations can be made by clicking on this this link. \nWe will have cocktails and dinner in the majestic Woodbury dining room.  After dinner\, you can party in the main bar or venture 12 stories above to the rooftop bar\, with beautiful views of the city and the Missouri River. The dinner cost of $60 per person (inclusive of gratuity and tax) will be collected at the time of the registration. \nYou may return to Central Iowa any way you choose\, but most drive the Scenic Byway back home since it’s mostly deserted on Sunday mornings.  Once back on Highway 44\, many choose to stop and have brunch in Harlan at a fabulous farm-to-table restaurant\, Milk and Honey. \nRegistration for the Loess Hills Run is now open. SUMMARY:Schonesland 2025 Winona Driftless Tour
DESCRIPTION:The Winona Driftless Tour\, June 5 – 8\, 2025 \nThis event is open only to the Schonesland Porsche Cub members. There is a maximum of twenty cars for this Tour. \nThe Driftless Region is a unique geological area spanning parts of Iowa\, Minnesota\, and Wisconsin\, distinguished by its rugged terrain\, deep river valleys\, and breathtaking scenic byways\, custom made for Porsches. Unlike the surrounding Midwest\, which was flattened by glaciers during the last Ice Age\, this region remained untouched\, preserving its ancient limestone bluffs\, winding streams\, and karst topography. The Mississippi River cuts through the heart of the Driftless Area\, adding to its scenic beauty and ecological diversity. \nWe will begin on Thursday morning at 8 AM with a brief drivers’ meeting at the Casey’s located just off Oralabor Rd at 2601 SE Creekview Dr\, Ankeny. Our morning route will take us to lunch for a return visit at Gus and Tony’s in West Union\, IA.  After lunch\, the roads to Winona get much more interesting\, sweeping us into our home for three nights at the Plaza Hotel & Suites\, 1025 HW61 East. To reserve your room you may call the hotel at 507-453-0303\, giving them our bloc code\, “SPC”\, or by clicking here on this link. \nThursday night’s dinner will be at Muddled Thyme in downtown Winona. \nFriday’s all-new tour will take us on a 220-mile drive all over SE Minnesota’s Driftless Region.  Lunch will be at O’Neill’s Pizza & Pub in Elgin\, MN.  Dinner that evening will be back in downtown Winona at the NOSH. This farm-to-table restaurant\, owned by local legend and Chef Greg Jaworski\, will host us in a private room to make for a memorable dining experience. The cost of the dinner at $60 per person must be paid at the time of the registration. \nSaturday is all about discovering the Driftless Region’s scenic higways in Southwestern Wisconsin.  Leaving Winona\, we’ll jump across the mighty Mississippi for a 190-mile romp on all-new roads and a couple of familiar ones\, only in the opposite direction from our prior visits. After returning to our hotel\, we’ll all meet again for our final evening together just a couple miles down County Road 17 at Signatures\, located at the Bridges Golf Club. \nSunday morning marks the end of the organized tour\, leaving everyone to return home on any route that their time will allow.  A highly recommended morning stop would be to the Whelan Pie Shop in Whelan\, MN.  Just 30-40 minutes down the road from Winona\, get a freshly-baked slice of pie and some ice cream before you trek on home. \nRegistration for the Winona Driftless Tour is now open. SUMMARY:Schonesland 2025 MA Hill Charity Drive
DESCRIPTION:On Saturday\, September 13\, 2025\, Schonesland will celebrate our former president\, MA Hill\, and the 70th Anniversary of PCA!! \nThe event this year will be a scavenger hunt around the Des Moines metro area! Each car will be given an instruction sheet with questions and stops. At each location you will take a picture of either your car or you. There will be bonus points available at some stops. At all the locations you get an extra point per Schonesland member that is posed in the picture that is not someone from your own car. There will also be points for least mileage driven and no points for the order you arrive at the destination. In other words\, it isn’t a race! Instead\, it is strategic! This drive is meant to be fun and spend some time outside of your car to get to know other members! Remember PCA’s motto\, “It’s Not Just the Cars\, It’s the People.” \nWe will have a driver’s meeting at 9AM after Cars & Coffee. Then starts the strategic planning for your route! There will not be a Ride with GPS route\, but each car will need to determine their own shortest route. The prize is a $70 gift certificate to the PCA Webstore where you can purchase PCA\, 70th Anniversary PCA\, or Schonesland merchandise. If there is a tie\, be prepared to have some PCA knowledge! \nOnly one registration ($20) is needed per car! All monies raised will be donated to MA Hill’s favorite charity\, Big Sisters. If unable to attend or want to donate more please use Venmo\, SchoneslandPorscheClub\, and note MA Hill Charity Drive Donation on the transaction. \nRegistration closes on Friday\, September 12th at Midnight – click the MSR image above to sign up!

Machine Shed has also been made aware of our presence the morning of this event\, so feel free to stop over and grab breakfast there before our drive (they open at 7 that morning). \nIf you have any questions or concerns\, please reach out to Dustin Pettiecord at 515-808-0770. Otherwise\, we look forward to getting the cars out for this great drive that will be the first one of the season for many. To register\, click the MSR image at the top of this page!

SUMMARY:Schonesland 2026 Jason Smith Collection Drive
DESCRIPTION:This is a one-day drive that will take us from Altoona to Cedar Rapids to visit three exquisite car collections owned by Duane Smith and Jason Smith. All three collections have a wealth of legendary and high-performance cars including including a 959\, a Carrera GT\, and a 918. For those who attended our 50th Anniversary event in August 2025\, these same cars were on display for our concours. \nA handful of last details are still being finalized. What is known as of today: \nWe will be sharing this experience with the Central Iowa Region\, and a few members from the Central Iowa Region may even join us on the drive over. \nOur schedule upon arrival in Cedar Rapids is complete. Our estimated start time (to be confirmed the first week of April) will be around 7:00 am for insurance release form sign up and Driver’s meeting with a drive start time of 7:25 am. Because of the need to be at the first collection in Cedar Rapids relatively early\, this will be closer to a straight-line drive. \nThis event will take place rain or shine; refreshments will be served at Duane’s collection\, and a boxed lunch will be served at the Jetset Collection in the afternoon. The last remaining details for this drive should be finalized the week of March 31 and will be posted at that time. To register\, click the MSR image at the top of this page! \nThis should be a fun Saturday! \nGarry Seemann Quick_981@yahoo.com          \nEvent requirements\n\nThis event is classified as a “driving tour” and will be conducted in accordance with the Porsche Club of America’s Driving Tour Standards. SUMMARY:Schonesland 2026 Winona Driftless Tour
DESCRIPTION:This event is open only to the Schonesland Porsche Cub members. To reserve your room you may call the hotel at 507-453-0303. Special rates and rooms will be available till 30 days prior to the event and after that date based on availble space only. The cost of the dinner at $67 per person must be paid at the time of the registration. \n  \n\n\n\n\n\nEvent requirements\n\nThis event is classified as a “driving tour” and will be conducted in accordance with the Porsche Club of America’s Driving Tour Standards. Please register at your earlest convenience if you are planning to attend to assure a spot! \nQuick Stats: \n6 Official Days (+ 1 or 2 days home from Manitou Springs with recommended return route)  \n2\,419 miles round trip \n8 scenic byways encountered \n17 named mountain passes conquered \nOvernight Locations – Hotel booking information will be sent directly to registrants: \n-Ogallala\, NE \n-Estes Park\, CO \n-Vail\, CO \n-Palisade\, CO \n-Durango\, CO \n-Manitou Springs\, CO \nHighlights: \n-Poudre Canyon \n-Big Thompson Canyon \n-Rocky Mountain National Park and Trail Ridge Road \n-Independence Pass \n-Unaweep Canyon \n-Million Dollar Highway \n-San Luis Valley \n-Pikes Peak (unofficial\, on your own) \n-delicious food\, beautiful roads\, and wonderful people! \nLogistics Notes: \n-Driven by a desire to more widely share these great experiences\, the attendance cap is nearly double (20 cars) for 2026’s EPIC tour! Growing demand for these drives\, like the 2024 Great Western Skies Tour and the 2025 Lake Superior Circle Tour\, led us to have two groups – one leaving on Saturday and the second one on Sunday following the first group one day behind. Back-to-back groups help simplify logistics planning for the trail boss\, the restaurants\, and the hotels on this fantastic multiday event. \n-Timed Entry at Rocky Mountain National Park (RMNP) will be active at the time of our trip. The plan is to depart our Estes Park hotel in time to enter RMNP before Timed Entry is required (typically 9AM-4PM daily). If this doesn’t work out\, an alternative route for that part of the day is under development. \n-The trip officially ends after dinner in Colorado Springs with the overnight stay in Manitou Springs. The intent is to open up options for tour attendees like Pikes Peak (note possible Timed Entry requirements)\, Cave of the Winds\, Garden of the Gods\, family and friend visits\, countless museums\, or choose between powering home in one day or two. It’s approximately 700 miles from Colorado Springs to Des Moines (this is included in the 2\,419 mile figure for the trip). \nPlease contact Eric Nelson with any questions you may have at nelsone2@gmail.com or by calling or texting (preferred) at 641-745-7200. \n  \n\n\n\n\n\nEvent requirements\n\nThis event is classified as a “driving tour” and will be conducted in accordance with the Porsche Club of America’s Driving Tour Standards. Judea (on the incredible Hwy 123) and then returning to Eureka Springs via the North-Eastern route. \nMonday morning\, driving home (optional and not PCA sanctioned) will include some good roads and minimal interstate use.  \nIf you choose to participate in just some parts of the drive\, please notify me to allow me to accurately plan on attendance at restaurants. \nPlease note that registration here on Motorsportreg.com will not reserve your hotel rooms.
