SUMMARY:Loess Hills Driving Tour 2024
DESCRIPTION:Registration ends at April 22\, 2024 11:59 PM CDT \n\nSaturday and Sunday\, April 27th & 28th should be on your calendars for the 2024 Loess Hills Run to Sioux City. Leaving from Hy-Vee Fast and Fresh\, 1025 E Hickman Rd\, Waukee\, IA 50263 on Saturday morning (arrive at 7:30 am)\, we’ll drive west on scenic Highway 44 to the Loess Hills in western Iowa. After a stop for lunch\, we’ll hustle up the Byway’s thrilling twists and turns thru the hills and valleys to arrive at the Marriott Riverfront Hotel in South Sioux City\, NE in time to check into our rooms and gather in the bar for a little refreshment and tales from the trail.  Then\, we’ll move to the Highlands Room at Kahill’s Chop House for a private evening of great food\, beverage and fellowship; cocktails at 6:00\, dinner at 7:00. \nSunday morning offers a return to Central Iowa by taking either the express route (Interstates 29 and 80) or the scenic route by going back down the Byway when it’s virtually deserted.  The Loess Hills Scenic Byway is on the United States Registry of Scenic Byways and one of our most popular drives of the season\, enjoyed by Schoneslanders since 2009. These roads are MADE for Porsches! \nA block of 30 rooms with special group rates of $140 or $150/night\, depending on view\, has been reserved under “Schonesland Region Porsche Club” with a mixture of king and double queen rooms on the river side and the parking lot side. DESCRIPTION:Please join us on Saturday\, April 20 for our single-day Mad Warren Driving Tour! The MadWarren drive will kick off Schonesland’s 2024 driving season. We will meet at Hotel Renovo (arrive around 7:30\, drive instructions are at 8:00\,  first group departs at 8:30) in Urbandale and go over the route\, safety instructions\, and sign the requisite waivers. \nBe sure to download the RidewithGPS app at least a day before. Further instructions on downloading and using the app for the route will be provided. Spoiler alert!!!!!  For the drive itself we will be driving the route in the opposite direction as last year. \nAt the end of the drive\, lunch will be at Pyra Pizza in Norwalk (around 11:45). SUMMARY:Dragoon Trail Driving Tour
DESCRIPTION:October 14th is the Annual Schonesland Club Dragoon Trail drive. \nThe Dragoon Trail follows the path of the 1st U.S. Dragoons\, cavalry soldiers who scouted Iowa in 1835 after the Black Hawk Purchase put the area under U.S. government control. SUMMARY:Red Wing\, Minnesota Multi-Night Driving Tour
DESCRIPTION:We’re the Schonesland Region and we do driving tours-as good as any region around\, some people might say. Last year we took a chance on a new tour to the Red Wing\, Minnesota area with a more laid-back schedule.  By all accounts a big hit.  So\, we’re doing it again this September with a few new twists. \nFor twist ONE\, as many of you already know\, this event will be our 2023 Fall tour\, rather than our fantastic Wisconsin tour\, which is coming up in mid-July.  And TWO\, this trip to Red Wing will be one day longer\, beginning on Thursday\, September 28th for those who can get away that day.  And THREE\, we have a REALLY good drive lined up for Friday\, September 29th all over those curvy\, hilly Wisconsin roads just across the Mississippi River from Red Wing.  Except for one small stint\, these are all new roads not driven last year. And FOUR\, for those who want to be really adventurous\, we’ll be driving early (quite early!) DESCRIPTION:This is the inaugural MA Hill Charity Drive! We are honoring MA Hill and everything she did for our club. She was the first female president of Schonesland PCA.  Everyone knew Mary Alice! She was always there with a smile\, laugh\, or ear to listen!   \nAll monies raised will be donated to Big Sisters which was MA’s favorite charity. \nThe format will be a poker run so you can go at your own pace. \nWe’ll depart from the AMC movie theater near our Cars & Coffee location in Johnston. We’ll do a driver’s meeting at 8:30AM to be on the road by 9:00. We’ll conclude the run (and see who got the best hand) at lunch at Smokey D’s BBQ. \nCost per hand played is $25.
