DESCRIPTION:About this event\n\nRegistration is now open here at MotorsportReg! \nThis is the annual MA Hill Charity Drive! We are honoring MA Hill and everything she did for our club. She was the first female president of Schonesland PCA. Everyone knew Mary Alice! She was always there with a smile\, laugh\, or ear to listen! \nThe format will be a poker run so you can go at your own pace. \nWe’ll depart from the AMC movie theater near our Cars & Coffee location in Johnston. We’ll do a driver’s meeting at 9:00AM to be on the road by 9:30AM. We’ll conclude the run (and see who got the best hand) at lunch at Smokey D’s BBQ. \nCost per hand played is $20. All monies raised will be donated to Big Sisters which was MA’s favorite charity. \nIf you would like to add to the club’s donation to Big Sisters\, but are not able to participate or do not want to purchase additional hands\, our Venmo is @SchoneslandPorscheClub (or search Schonesland under Business on Venmo) and be sure to put MA Hill in the comments so we know that money is to be donated. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nEvent requirements\n\nPrice per hand played is $20. This event is open only to Schonesland Porsche Club Members. \nPlease note that this drive is capped at 20 cars and that it sold out in 2023! \nThis event takes place over the Labor Day Weekend \nWe will be using the same phenomenal roads as in 2023. The roads in Arkansas are amazing\, this is a driver’s drive and pretty much the best driving tour the club offers. \nSchedule: \nWe formally start the drive from Joplin\, Missouri with a welcome dinner Thursday night at the Mythos Greek restaurant that we have enjoyed last several years. Most of us will drive together from Des Moines to Joplin on Thursday (this part of the trip is not PCA sanctioned) with a lunch stop at the Toot Toot restaurant in Bethany\, MO. If you are unable to join us in Joplin\, you can join the group in Eureka Springs for Saturday’s and Sunday’s drives\, but you would miss a fantastic day of driving on Friday from Joplin to Eureka Springs with a nice Lunch Stop at the Flat Creek Restaurant in Fair Hope\, MO. \nDrives: \nFor those driving together to Joplin on Thursday\, we will meet at Hotel Renovo parking lot at 10:00 am with a planned departure at 10:15. \nFriday morning\, drive from Joplin to Eureka Springs through southern Missouri and Arkansas with the aforementioned lunch stop In Fair Hope and a couple of pit stops. \nSaturday morning\, drive south from Eureka Springs to Oark for lunch at the Oark General Store returning to Eureka Springs through the Ozark Francis National Forest. Saturday’s drive has been changed due to significant road construction. It now covers Southern Parts of Missouri and Northern parts of Arkansas with lunch at the Beacon Point Restaurant in the Bull Shoals general area. \nSunday morning\, drive from Eureka Springs via Ponca to Jasper for lunch at the Ozark Café continuing to Mt. DESCRIPTION:Registration ends in 4 months at July 12\, 2024 11:59 PM CDT – click here to register on MSR! \n\nThis is a shared event with the Schonesland and Great Plains PCA regions. \nThe Schonesland Club will meet 10:30 am Friday\, June 12th at the Handlebar restaurant in Dallas Center.  After the Driver’s Meeting (at 10:30)\, we will have lunch at 11:00 in the Handlebar then will be starting the drive around noon. \nWe will drive to Omaha on the byways as typical and should arrive at the Durham Museum around 2:30 (please bring $15 per person for the Durham Museum tour to avoid a line of people paying once we get there). At the museum\, will have a docent to guide us\, and he will take us through the highlights for two hours\, as there is a LOT to see. While it was a train station “back in the day”\, the real focus of the museum is on the settling and growth of Omaha from the 1800’s on. Both Roy and Bill spent two hours touring the museum and could have easily spent another hour! We realize museums are not everyone’s cup of tea. So\, if a museum tour is just not your thing\, you can drive with us to Omaha and then head to the hotel\, check in\, and then go across the street and test drive Porsches all afternoon! Or break off from the group and do an abbreviated tour on your own\, and then head to the hotel. If two hours is not enough at the museum\, stay as long as you like. Lastly\, as we will be right in the Old Market area\, you could spend some time exploring that area. \nAfter the Museum tour\, we will continue onto the Residence Inn Omaha West for check in (18202 Cuming Street). Dinner and drinks will be at each member’s cost. Entree selections will be Roast Beef\, Country Style BBQ Back Ribs\, 4 piece Fried Chicken Dinner or Salmon Filet. \nIn the morning\, we will need to have our cars parked in the Berkshire Hathaway parking lot (331 Village Point Plaza) by 7:30 a.m.\, which is just across the freeway (this is where the Supercar Saturday event takes place\, and we will have our own Porsche parking area). “Ollie the Trolley” will shuttle us back across the freeway (running from 7:30-9:30) to the Porsche of Omaha Dealership Service Bay for breakfast. Following breakfast we will head back to the car show via\n“Ollie the Trolley” for the main event to tour the huge collection of Exotics\, Classics\, American muscle\, Europeans and JDM’s – it’s a car enthusiast’s dream! Only register if you fully intend to attend the drive as this drive is limited to ten cars. \nGeneral Tour Information \nNOTE: Only one registration by car – note the number of people but do not register separately. \nYou can review the detailed (preliminary – due to change) routes day by day on Ride with GPS at Great Western Skies Tour 2024 (ridewithgps.com)  \nDaily overview: \nWe will meet Friday Morning at the Kum & Go at 650 W Hickman in Waukee at 8:00 am for 8:30 wheel off departure after signing the Insurance Waivers etc. heading West tracing some of the Loess Hills Drive roads ending in Mitchell\, SD for the night. The second day will take us through the Badlands National Park to Rapid City\, SD with an obligatory stop at the Wall Drug (after passing about one hundred roadside advertisements for it). On Sunday we will cruise the incredible Black Hills National Forest roads and visit Mount Rushmore before returning back to Rapid city for another night. Monday will have an Encounter of the Porsche Kind at the Devils Tower. Maybe we will even see Richard Dreyfuss there – or not. From there we will continue to Sheridan\, WY for the night. Tuesday Morning we will take the drive through Big Horn National Forest on the Northern route to new heights on the Beartooth Pass at almost 11\,000 feet from where we will descend through the Chief Joseph Scenic Byway to Wyoming and drive to Cody\, WY for the night. Wednesday will take us to Gillette\, WY through the Bighorn National Forest utilizing the Southern route. On Thursday morning\, we will head to Spearfish. SD for a little break before continuing to Hot Springs\, SD where some of us might take the time to take a plunge and soak in the hot waters bubbling from the earth and some may visit the World Fossil Finder Museum. Friday we will start heading towards home and will drive to Norfolk\, NE where we will have one more evening together before heading back to Des Moines on Saturday. This is truly a drivers tour with some days quite long. Total mileage is just about 2\,400 miles. We will use Ride with GPS to navigate. Some of the National Parks we drive through and Attractions do have an entrance fee. DESCRIPTION:Registration ends at April 22\, 2024 11:59 PM CDT \n\nSaturday and Sunday\, April 27th & 28th should be on your calendars for the 2024 Loess Hills Run to Sioux City. Leaving from Hy-Vee Fast and Fresh\, 1025 E Hickman Rd\, Waukee\, IA 50263 on Saturday morning (arrive at 7:30 am)\, we’ll drive west on scenic Highway 44 to the Loess Hills in western Iowa. After a stop for lunch\, we’ll hustle up the Byway’s thrilling twists and turns thru the hills and valleys to arrive at the Marriott Riverfront Hotel in South Sioux City\, NE in time to check into our rooms and gather in the bar for a little refreshment and tales from the trail.  Then\, we’ll move to the Highlands Room at Kahill’s Chop House for a private evening of great food\, beverage and fellowship; cocktails at 6:00\, dinner at 7:00. \nSunday morning offers a return to Central Iowa by taking either the express route (Interstates 29 and 80) or the scenic route by going back down the Byway when it’s virtually deserted.  The Loess Hills Scenic Byway is on the United States Registry of Scenic Byways and one of our most popular drives of the season\, enjoyed by Schoneslanders since 2009. These roads are MADE for Porsches! \nA block of 30 rooms with special group rates of $140 or $150/night\, depending on view\, has been reserved under “Schonesland Region Porsche Club” with a mixture of king and double queen rooms on the river side and the parking lot side.
