SUMMARY:Red Wing\, Minnesota Multi-Night Driving Tour
DESCRIPTION:We’re the Schonesland Region and we do driving tours-as good as any region around\, some people might say. Last year we took a chance on a new tour to the Red Wing\, Minnesota area with a more laid-back schedule.  By all accounts a big hit.  So\, we’re doing it again this September with a few new twists. \nFor twist ONE\, as many of you already know\, this event will be our 2023 Fall tour\, rather than our fantastic Wisconsin tour\, which is coming up in mid-July.  And TWO\, this trip to Red Wing will be one day longer\, beginning on Thursday\, September 28th for those who can get away that day.  And THREE\, we have a REALLY good drive lined up for Friday\, September 29th all over those curvy\, hilly Wisconsin roads just across the Mississippi River from Red Wing.  Except for one small stint\, these are all new roads not driven last year. And FOUR\, for those who want to be really adventurous\, we’ll be driving early (quite early!) Saturday morning on September 30th\, to the Chanhasssen Automotorplex to enjoy their final Cars and Coffee of the season that just happens to sport a German Car Octoberfest theme.  But the cars are NOT the main attraction at this facility-it’s the over-the-top garages and man caves that you’re really going to enjoy. \nThere is no planned afternoon event after the Cars and Coffee until we meet again in Red Wing Saturday evening for dinner.  \nYou’re free to do whatever you wish for the afternoon. \n“Like what?” you may ask……Well\, Prince’s Paisley Park is just four blocks away from the Automotorplex.  You may select from four\, different-priced mid-day guided tours at this landmark musician’s residence\, recording studios and museum by ordering  (online only)your tour pass at paisleypark.com.  You’ll want to monitor their site so that when the tickets become available for Sept 30\, you’ll be able to get one- they’re limited and very popular. \nOr\, you may wish to tour the world-renowned Minnesota Landscape Arboretum in nearby Chaska\, MN.  Learn all about it at arb.umn.edu \nAnd I guess there’s always Mall of America. \nAnd don’t ask: the Vikings are out of town that weekend. \nOr you may wish to return to Red Wing and enjoy the afternoon there. \nRegistration – two steps \nWe have a block of 23 rooms at the St. James Hotel in Red Wing under the Schonesland Porsche Club name.  Your first step is to reserve your room by calling the hotel at 651-388-2846.  \nStep two is to register on motorsportreg.com.  There is nothing to prepay for with this event\, however\, we suggest that you pay with cash as often as possible in order to check out quickly. \nRED WING TOUR WKND MENU: \nTHURSDAY \nLunch- The Other Place\, 200 US-18\, Clear Lake\, IA \nDinner- Home Plate Bar & Grill\, \n227 Bush St\, Red Wing (1 block from St James Hotel) \n  \nFRIDAY \nLunch- Shanghai Bistro (Pan-Asian)\, Eau Claire\, WI \nDinner- Italian Pasta buffet \n The Jewel Golf Club\, 1900 Clubhouse Dr\, Lake City\, MN \n  \nSATURDAY \nDinner-Smokin’ Oak Rotisserie and Grill \n4243 US-61\, Red Wing\, MN \n  \n  \nQUESTIONS? \nContact trail boss Jeff David \n515-229-5626 \njeff.t.david@gmail.com

SUMMARY:Dragoon Trail Driving Tour
DESCRIPTION:October 14th is the Annual Schonesland Club Dragoon Trail drive. \nThe Dragoon Trail follows the path of the 1st U.S. Dragoons\, cavalry soldiers who scouted Iowa in 1835 after the Black Hawk Purchase put the area under U.S. government control. The trail roughly tracks along the course of the Des Moines River from Fort Dodge through Des Moines to Knoxville and Lake Red Rock.  \nOur drive: We will depart following Cars & Coffee at Cozy Cafe\, drive to Fort Dodge where we will be having lunch at Mineral City (2621 Fifth Ave S\, Fort Dodge IA). \nDriver’s meeting @ 9:15 with the first group scheduled for an 9:30 departure.  The drive route will be posted on Ride With GPS\, and also paper copies will be available the day of the event. \nAny questions\, please contact John Peeler 515-708-4153. \nYou can register for the event at Motorsportreg here.
