SUMMARY:Schonesland 2025 MA Hill Charity Drive
DESCRIPTION:On Saturday\, September 13\, 2025\, Schonesland will celebrate our former president\, MA Hill\, and the 70th Anniversary of PCA!! \nThe event this year will be a scavenger hunt around the Des Moines metro area! Each car will be given an instruction sheet with questions and stops. At each location you will take a picture of either your car or you. There will be bonus points available at some stops. At all the locations you get an extra point per Schonesland member that is posed in the picture that is not someone from your own car. There will also be points for least mileage driven and no points for the order you arrive at the destination. In other words\, it isn’t a race! Instead\, it is strategic! This drive is meant to be fun and spend some time outside of your car to get to know other members! Remember PCA’s motto\, “It’s Not Just the Cars\, It’s the People.” \nWe will have a driver’s meeting at 9AM after Cars & Coffee. Then starts the strategic planning for your route! There will not be a Ride with GPS route\, but each car will need to determine their own shortest route. The prize is a $70 gift certificate to the PCA Webstore where you can purchase PCA\, 70th Anniversary PCA\, or Schonesland merchandise. If there is a tie\, be prepared to have some PCA knowledge! \nOnly one registration ($20) is needed per car! All monies raised will be donated to MA Hill’s favorite charity\, Big Sisters. SUMMARY:Schonesland 2025 Dragoon Trail Drive
DESCRIPTION:June 21st is the Annual Schonesland Club Dragoon Trail drive. This event is open only to Schonesland Porsche Cub members. \nThe Dragoon Trail follows the path of the 1st U.S. Dragoons\, cavalry soldiers who scouted Iowa in 1835 after the Black Hawk Purchase put the area under U.S. government control. The trail itself roughly tracks along the course of the Des Moines River from Fort Dodge through Des Moines to Knoxville and Lake Red Rock.  \nOur Drive: We will depart following Cars & Coffee at Cozy Cafe and drive to Fort Dodge where we will be having lunch at Amigo’s located at 280 N 1st St\, Fort Dodge\, IA 5050. \nDriver’s meeting @ 9:15 with the first group scheduled for an 9:30 departure. She was always there with a smile\, laugh\, or ear to listen! \nThe format will be a poker run so you can go at your own pace. \nWe’ll depart from the AMC movie theater near our Cars & Coffee location in Johnston. We’ll do a driver’s meeting at 9:00AM to be on the road by 9:30AM. We’ll conclude the run (and see who got the best hand) at lunch at Smokey D’s BBQ. \nCost per hand played is $20. All monies raised will be donated to Big Sisters which was MA’s favorite charity. \nIf you would like to add to the club’s donation to Big Sisters\, but are not able to participate or do not want to purchase additional hands\, our Venmo is @SchoneslandPorscheClub (or search Schonesland under Business on Venmo) and be sure to put MA Hill in the comments so we know that money is to be donated. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nEvent requirements\n\nPrice per hand played is $20. SUMMARY:Schonesland 2024 Dragoon Trail Driving Tour
DESCRIPTION:Registration ends in 3 months at June 5\, 2024 11:59 PM CDT – click here to register on MSR! \n\nJune 8th is the Annual Schonesland Club Dragoon Trail drive. \nThe Dragoon Trail follows the path of the 1st U.S. Dragoons\, cavalry soldiers who scouted Iowa in 1835 after the Black Hawk Purchase put the area under U.S. government control. The trail roughly tracks along the course of the Des Moines River from Fort Dodge through Des Moines to Knoxville and Lake Red Rock.  \nOur drive: We will depart following Cars & Coffee at Cozy Cafe\, drive to Fort Dodge where we will be having lunch at Amigo’s located at 280 N 1st St\, Fort Dodge\, IA 5050. \nDriver’s meeting @ 9:15 with the first group scheduled for an 9:30 departure.  The drive route will be posted on Ride With GPS\, and also paper copies will be available the day of the event. \nIf you have any questions about this ride please contact Dave Hill 515-657-2424 or via e-mail at dave.a.hill.jr@gmail.com \nHope to see you on the ride!!

SUMMARY:Everything You Need to Know About Autocross\, DE\, and Track Events - Cozy Cafe Johnston
DESCRIPTION:Have you been thinking it’s time to get more out of your car and the Porsche experience? Join us on Saturday\, April 13 at Cozy Cafe in Johnston immediately following Cars and Coffee for a great new Tech Session from our very own Bob Eddy and other experienced competitors on Everything You Need to Know About Autocross\, DE\, and Track Events! \nThis seminar will have several page hand-outs\, two large poster board diagrams for explanations and referencing while in discussions. It will cover three main areas of competition to include details of the different types of driving the competition courses. At the conclusion of each area two Schonesland members will give their perspective on what to expect\, why it can be fun to participate\, and respond to questions and comments. \nA) Autocrossing or Solo Events: Typically held in a large parking lot with a course designed and laid out using rubber pylons. Each car navigates through the course driving against a timed run from start to finish\, one car at a time. We will cover the complete description of how the event works\, what you should expect to get from this experience and what the cost would be to enter. \nB) On Track Experience Events: Run on a fully-enclosed race track. This event covers the full experience of driving correctly on a track and includes in-car instruction. This type of event will also include other cars on track with you at the same time. We will cover the full operation of driving and what you should expect to get out of the on track experience and what the cost would be to enter. \nC) On Track Time Trial Events: These come at a greater experience level\, driving at a faster and more aggressive pace on a closed race track\, in competition against yourself to drive even faster to beat your previous lap times.
