All Schonesland Region members have been invited to join our friends in the PCA Great Plains Region for a one-day-only “Track Experience” event on Saturday, August 26th! The full-day event offers you the opportunity to let your Porsches loose at the Raceway Park of the Midlands (RPM – formerly known as the Mid-America Motorplex or MAM), located 15 miles south of the I-80 / I-29 interchange in Council Bluffs. Just a quick two-hour drive from Des Moines, the 40-foot-wide, 2 ¼-mile-long track includes 15 turns, one long straight, two shorter straights, and three shorter shoots beside the turns.
Sponsored by the PCA Great Plains Region, the event is fully sanctioned by PCA as a “Driver Education Track Experience” and is open to any current Porsche Club of America member.The event is open to any Porsche coupe or targa; cabriolet models must be 2005 or newer. There will be three track groupings (novice beginner, intermediate, advanced) comprised of Porsches only. A total of six (and the possibility of up to eight) 20-minute sessions of on-track driving will be held, with three in the morning with an instructor in the car with you and possibly four in the afternoon. Additionally, two classroom sessions (30 to 40 minutes each) are required for beginners to attend and learn about “on track driving”. All instruction, both in classroom and on track, will come from a PCA certified driver instructor.Each new entrant will be assigned an instructor and will include a ride along in your car plus outside observations. Driver’s meeting will be at 8:30am on Saturday.
Cost for registration is $165.00 and covers track rental, emergency services, instruction, and insurance. Please carefully review the associated requirements, forms, and instructions. Cars will be subject to a tech inspection for safety purposes. A current certified, Snell Foundation – SFI, Helmet, model SA-2020, of any manufacture is required (some loaners will be available for use). Additional requirements include but are not limited to closed-toed shoes, and removal of all loose items from the car.
